Based out of Toronto, Sacred Rides has mountain biking trips throughout the globe, most recently a fat tire tour through Greenland. I went to Mexico for surfing, riding, and yoga morning and night. Here’s that story!
I’m an honorary Transardinian— the only female and Canadian to cycle the west and east coasts of the island of Sardinia, Italy. This tour company from Cagliari, the main town in the south, sets you up for the tour through the mountains, and agritourismo homes– local farm houses that serve everything from their land: sheep’s cheese, meat, wine, homemade pastas. I gained weight.
One of my favourite countries on the planet, I did some city touring using the city’s bike share program and also rented from Giant Bikes, the world’s largest bike manufacturer made in Taiwan, of course. APRIL *South Africa – The Route is King in South Africa’s Joberg2c. Nine days, it is as beautiful as it is long! JOBERG2C. South Africa has more than 50 stage races! This was my first.
MAY *Lesotho, Africa – In the tiny landlocked country of Lesotho, enjoy a family weekend event, and race (8 km, 25 km, 55 km, or 75 km) at the Malealea Monster.
OCTOBER *For Lesotho’s epic six-day mountain bike race (limited to 100 entrants), The Lesotho Sky is an intimate and unique experience through pony tracks and expansive canyons.
Gran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie. Cycle alongside the Atlantic Ocean through traditional Acadian villages in Nova Scotia — ride 35 kms or 161 kms. (PS: lobster dinner at the finale!) September
